Most folks would be excited that there’s only 20 more days till Christmas, but us at Comics Anonymous get more giddy about the comics that have brought us a smile this year. Today’s highlight from Linsay is about the art of Mikel Janin and how it was the most excited she’d been about comic book art in ages.
I first came across Mikel’s art in issue 1 of the Flashpoint tie in Deadman & the Flying Graysons and was blown away. It was so unlike everything else I was reading, particularly in comparison to mainstream publishers. I am really enjoying his work on JLDark and despite him being relatively new to comic book art seems to be able to show a range of emotions on a characters face unlike anyone else. An artist who brings out the best bits of Milligan’s work is really something else. Mikel is my art highlight of 2011 and I am really looking forward to seeing what he produces in 2012.
Check out the reviews of Mikel’s Flying Graysons and JL Dark Issues #1 and #2, as well as the interview with the man himself.
