We’ve made it – the final door on your Comics Anonymous advent calendar has been opened, and what’s hidden behind it? Comics Anonymous of course! We couldn’t have a best of 2011 feature on the site without mentioning our top highlight of the year, the creation of the site itself – so for our final highlight, Craig tells us all about how things started.

By now it’s likely that most of you will have stopped for the Christmas break – a time to sit back, put your feet up, relax and ponder over the year that was. Here at Comics Anonymous HQ however, we have been doing some pondering for 23 days now – and what a year it has been. Assuming you’ve not got some last minute present shopping to do, why not check out all 23 days so far using the “Bestof2011” tag in each of the posts. As for today, Linsay continues on from her discovery of Moon Knight, to another Marvel character that caught her eye this year.

In the style of Harry Hill, here is today’s “Comics-Anonymous-Highlights-of-the-year!”. We’re on the final straight now as we take a nose dive towards Christmas. If there’s one thing we’ve learnt this year, it’s that inspiration to read certain comics can from many places – not least when we’re away from the familiar. In today’s analogy, DC is Santa Clause, bringing us 52 little gifts every month. In some ways, September was more like our December – we were as giddy as a 5 year old on Christmas Day every Wednesday. We enjoyed it so much we wrote a review for every single #1 issue of the DCnew52 (you can read our final scores here) but there was one title that made it to the top of everyone’s list. Today, Gary tells us which.

It’s a week until Christmas – but as far as we’re concerned we’ve been treated plenty already this year. Every Wednesday is like a mini Christmas Day, anxious to unwrap your pull list and discover what treats await. Today Craig tells us about the joy of rediscovering the X-Men and how 2012 will be much more mutant themed.

This year Comics Anonymous have read an obscene amount of comics, ranging from the dark and twisted word of Spaceman to the outright mental Xenoholics and it’s good to have a nice mix. Today, Linsay tells us why sometimes you just need a comic that makes you smile and how Skullkickers helped achieve this highlight in 2011.
We’ve had our fair share of comic events this year, but none are as special as the one that helped sow the seeds of Comics Anonymous. As our first outing as a group, Gary tells us why KAPOW! 2011 was one never to forget.
