It’s a surprise this didn’t happen earlier – my very own column to talk about the thing I hold most dear in comics – Batman. If you’re new to the blog you’ll already know I read a lot (if not most of) the bat-books from DC, as well as steep myself in as many bat-things as a married man can get away with, so it was only logical that I start a regular post to discuss everything that’s going on in the Bat-verse. Be careful though – SPOILER ALERT! – although I try to keep away from spoilers in my reviews of issues, this feature won’t have such a luxury – so it’s wise to make sure you’ve caught up before going much further.

Now after a whole month of #1s, the hard decisions come – what will I pick up the #2 of? If you’re like me (and have any sense) you’ll have pre-ordered your #2s a couple of months ago, not having laid an eye on any #1 – so it was difficult to try and guess what I’d want to keep, and what I expected to be cack! 52 issues later, and there’s both a lot of surprises, and a lot of disappointments – however the one constant in my life Batman, so there was no surprises that Detective Comics was in my pile last week.

Hawkman is back…and this time he’s savage apparently?! In a bid to give us a tougher, harder Hawkman, Tony S. Daniel and Philip Tan have teamed up to produce a #1 that’s one part X-files and two parts Superhero – sound like your kind of bag?

Detective Comics is the first of the major Bat comics – It makes sense that DC starts with the comic where it all began. As you’ll soon notice I’m a big Bat-Fan, and the rest of the Comics Anonymous gang are allowing me to review pretty much every Bat-related book in the new 52. Before my review of the comic however, I thought I’d mention a few things I find interesting from before the re-launch as well as how DC have handled the writer/artist combo on the main Batman titles compared to the rest of their New 52.
