MONOCYTE #4 PREVIEW

I usually wait until the end of a review to give out my inconsistent and occasionally irrelevant scores but today I’m giving you the score for Monocyte #4 first. Then I’m going to try and back that up by talking about this comic in a way that properly justifies it. I’m almost certainly going to fail. I’m not the most eloquent of reviewers and I’ve never discussed or read a comic like this before. I’m not sure I will, ever again. At least until the next Menton/ Ghanbari series is commissioned.

COMICS ANONYMOUS TALKS TO MENTON3 AND KASRA GHANBARI ABOUT MONOCYTE

All too often I come back from my local shop with a huge stack of comics and devour them furiously, one after the other. With the many spin-off titles and big ticket characters appearing in the multitude of books, they can easily blur together and become forgettable. Sure, I can remember story details and hold a conversation about ‘what Cap did next’ just as well as the next reader, but I’ve been getting a little jaded when it comes to feeling my comics. The comic book that imparts a real feeling that stays with you, long after you’ve read it, is getting rarer than ever. I suppose that’s why I took so much notice of Monocyte. Continue reading →
