While the build-up to this may have seemed to taken AGGGGEEESSSSS…..it feels like it’s all been worth the wait as the alternate universe-spanning event captures all incarnations of Spider-Man you could imagine….and more.

As marvel’s Phase 2 films kept on trucking all the major players got their moment back on the big screen and while Iron Man 3 & Thor 2 had left me underwhelmed……Captain America 2 would buck that trend.

The events of Superior Spider-Man #17 saw another version of Spidey return in his own title in Spider-Man 2099……and I’m glad that he’s back.
Marvel truly expanded the scope of their film universe with Guardians of The Galaxy, the box-office smash that built on the success of those earlier films and introduced another unknown group of comic book characters to a wider audience……and had us all saying “I am Groot!”

A new fortnightly chess collection from Eaglemoss sees a who’s who of Marvel heroes and villains face-off on that 8 by 8 grid.
In recent years we’ve had more than our fair share of “events” from the big two and the unfortunate thing is that most have promised so much and delivered very little as they either fizzle out or never really hit the mark. That was until Infinity came along from Marvel…..

I was on the fence on whether to pick up this title when I saw it advertised – where I enjoyed the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe 4-parter that was all but blown away with a fairly so-so vibe I got from the Marvel Now on-going release…..that being said with Cullen Bunn involved I thought I’d give it a go.

Given the chance, there’s probably a short list of people with whom I’d like to swap brains for the day, including Grant Morrison (trippy) and Scott Snyder (BATMAN!), but right now there’s one person’s head I’d love to be able look deeply into so that I can have the answers to what’s happening in his comic – Nick Spencer. He’s currently writing a couple of books for Image and has previously worked with DC and Marvel. We managed to grab Nick at this year’s Kapow! to talk about his current and upcoming work.

Joe Quesada would have loved the opportunity to talk to the guys in charge of Marvel and DC back in the day. This recurring panel is Joe’s way of giving back: ask him anything from comic books to love lives. Joining Joe on the panel at Kapow! 2012 were Mark Millar (Kick-Ass &c.), Kieron Gillen (Phonogram, Journey into Mystery), CB Cebulski (Marvel Talent Scout).
