Yesterday (9th November) saw the start of Thought Bubble, a week long art festival in Leeds that ends with a weekend long Comic Con that’s become arguably the best in the country. It’s focus on a mix of comic creators and some big name guests has been a highlight for me & many others in recent years and the date is blocked out on calendar’s well in advance as it proves to be a great opportunity for friends to catch up – be they artists, writers, cosplayers or just comic book fans. A big part of my weekend tends to be scouring the small press tables for the next addition to my reading/review pile and here’s some of the suggestions I’d have for titles to look out for…..
I can’t imagine how difficult it has been to narrow down the nominees for this years award – having read my fair share of Indie/Self Published titles it’s been fairly obvious that the talent up and down the country is significant. To the point where they challenge my “reading order” for my weekly comic book pile……they’re THAT good.

From the first time I saw the teased cover image from the creators for Neverending – I had a fair idea that this would be another Indie/Self-published title that I’d be clamouring to get hold of but fate’s heavy hand meant I missed the MCM Comic Con at the SECC which marked the launch……and to make matters worse……at least for me…..it sold out its first print faster than a complaint was registered against the casting of Affleck…..and that’s FAST!
We show our favourite comic creators just home much we love them week in, week out by buying their books and talking about them, but why not go one step further and actually award them for their achievements in comics? Well now you can help by taking part in the British Comic Awards.
