After recently catching up on Moogs Kewell’s SICBA awards winning Big In Japan (reviewed here) I was straight onto ordering her latest release Crossing Borders which has got 2 nominations in this years SICBA’s.
Crossing Borders is a mix of travel diary & travel guide filled with anecdotes and general observations as Morag & her boyfriend Matt travel through Thailand & Cambodia. Even that description doesn’t do it justice as there’s so much crammed into this book in a similar way to Big in Japan. Starting with the plane journey after the much needed chocolate sundae and a double JD & coke the mix of facts and personal moments. Romantic moments, shared experiences, the wonder of discovering a new place and all with Moogs own unique artwork capturing photo’s and sketches that paint a whole world that I’D like to start exploring.
The little nuggets of knowledge give it that guide-book feeling and you feel like you’re coming away with this having learned something while the openness that Moogs has with her experiences leave us feeling that we’ve shared the trip with her. cute, funny, sad and inspiring in it’s own way……it’s another fantastic issue from Moogs…….and if I was a betting man…..I’d say there’s a good chance some of the 2014 SICBA’s will be heading her way.
Find out more about the launch party below that’s happening on the 1st July:
