Oblivion

We saw this hit cinema’s back in April based on a (yet-to-be seen) Graphic Novel from Radical Studios, written & directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman among others we saw a post-apocalyptic sci-fi action thriller play out with an air of the unexpected along with it.  Unexpected in that it was smart, enjoyable and easy to get lost in.  Standard sci-fi plot elements were given a twist that many saw coming (although not me for a change) but with solid performances from those involved it was made all the more believable…..but one of the biggest successes of the film were the visuals.  Clean, epic shots set the scene in the largely uninhabited earth and its beauty was truly captivating.  A movie made to be seen on the big screen and one of my favourites from the year’s releases.
