Dublin International Comic Expo (D.I.C.E.) 2012

Back in September I made the trip across the water to Ireland…..not exactly the same surroundings as MorrisonCon enjoyed by Craig but just as worthy of attention.

Tightly planned by the folks from The Big Bang comic book shop in Dublin we had back issues, t-shirts and some great guests in attendance.  Doug Braithwaite, Tommy Lee Edwards, Matt Fraction appeared to name but a few as international and Irish creators rubbed shoulders.  Moving between the open space of the venue and the secluded area for panels there was more than enough time over the two days to chat with a favourite writer/artist.

A good chance to catch up with some editors from Marvel/Vertigo which can sometimes be lacking at cons and it was an extra gain to hear that side of things.  A number of tables set aside for portfolio reviews too and there was more than enough reason to attend both days.  The magic of the con was the atmosphere though and it reminded me of Thought Bubble which is arguable the best UK con each year.  A new contender comes along in the shape of D.I.C.E. and if the venue and high-calibre of guest continues in 2013 – then I’m sure to be making another trip over.
