A first for FCBD as far as I remember, was this years Hardcover anthology release from Archaia Entertainment….that’s right….A HARDCOVER!

A collection of six all-new, never-before-seen short stories featuring some amazing work from some of the strongest storytellers and artists we have in the comic world today.  ‘Mouse Guard’ from David Peterson (interviewed at London Super Con earlier this year – here), Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’, ‘Steps of the Dapper Men’ from Jim McCann & Janet K. Lee, Royden Lepp’s ‘Rust’, Jeremy Bastian’s ‘Cursed Pirate Girl’ and ‘Cow Boy’ from Nate Cosby & Chris Eliopoulos gathered together to give you the kind of quality short-stories that you can lose yourself in and almost revert back to the earliest days of reading comics.

A good read for a Sunday afternoon and with a warm feeling of adventure we don’t tend to see in the regular releases, replaced in many with shock-tactics and leather outfits…..not that there’s anything wrong with either of those….in moderation ya hear.  If anything that’s something I’ve come to expect from Archaia, mainly as a follower of their Mouse Guard title but all six here offer something different and something interesting – from the humour dotted throughout to the random moments that are accepted with ease.

A success from Archaia and all six stories fit together to make this my highlight of the FCBD releases – if you can still get your hands on this – pick it up, even if you have to pay for it….it’s THAT good.
