HIGHLIGHTS OF 2011 DAY 19 – THE FLASH by G-Man

In today’s analogy, DC is Santa Clause, bringing us 52 little gifts every month. In some ways, September was more like our December – we were as giddy as a 5 year old on Christmas Day every Wednesday. We enjoyed it so much we wrote a review for every single #1 issue of the DCnew52 (you can read our final scores here) but there was one title that made it to the top of everyone’s list. Today, Gary tells us which.

The New 52 reboot from DC has seen some highs in lows in the last 3 months.  Some titles have let us down, others have surprised us, but few have truly amazed… and for me THE stand-out title from the reboot was The Flash.  A title co-written by Francis Manapul & Brian Buccellato – with Manapul on art and Buccellato on colours, the attention to detail and the care with which it’s handled has been amazing.  Every page almost glows with the kind of art you’d gladly pay more to get your hands on and the writing has been strong in the first 3 issues… leaving us satisfied with what we’ve read and desperate for more at the same time.  If anything, I wish I WAS The Flash… and I could head into the future for the next issues.  My 10 out of 10 issue that is as consistent as it is engaging… buy this, read it and enjoy it.

Still don’t believe me – just check out my review of issue #1.
