Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Batman! & more.
New releases 06 June 2012
DC is treating us to Batman and Batgirl, both #10. In Batman and Robin, a ‘meeting of the Robins’ and still no sign of Steph Brown – sheesh. Swamp Thing #10 has a new writer (Matt Kindt, writer of Mind Mgmt), and for some reason, Liefeld has been handed Deathstroke #10 in its entirety – words and ‘art’ (Oooh – burn…).
An American Vampire mini-series kicks off with Lord of Nightmares, #1 of 5.
There’s a Before Watchmen book this week too. Don’t know where you stand on Mooregate? Check out Craig’s review of last week’s Minutemen and you might find yourself tempted to pick up Silk Spectre this week, regardless of the politics.
IDW has the intriguing Mind the Gap #2 and the super-violent Skullkickers #15. A new series entitled The Massive kicks off at Dark Horse this week. It’s by Brian Wood, writer of X-Men for Marvel (which begins a new story arc this week with issue #30) and new writer on Ultimate Comics X-Men #13.
Also from Marvel: Avengers vs X-Men event tie-ins including X-Men Legacy #268, Avengers #27 and AvX: vs #3. Last but not least, in fact the one I’m waiting on: Spider-Men #1. Miles meets Peter and you can’t beat a bit of Bendis & Pichelli.

Last week’s stack
I read Morning Glories #19 at the weekend – in fact I went back to the beginning of the P.E. arc and read all of it. This book is worth ten LOSTs. Popeye #2 gave me a craving for some Annabel Karmel dinner, DC’s gay character intro in Earth 2 #2 had the subtlety of HULK in SMASH mode (see Morning Glories #18 for a tasteful and realistic alternative on this theme) and I dived into Marvel continuity with Generation Hope #1.
See our recent reviews of Creator-Owned Heroes, Legends of the Dark Knight, Extermination and Overload.
Where we’re at
This Friday, some of the gang will be at a signing at Plan B in Glasgow.
